The phone rang and rang, but Dad didn't pick up.
“That’s odd”, I thought to myself. “After all, the whole state’s gone crazy at the moment.” Minutes before, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews had announced the whole of Melbourne metro area (and beyond) would return to COVID lockdown for six weeks. Luckily that doesn’t affect us in Leongatha, but that was going to affect my parents- both of whom live in Melbourne. I was ringing to check in.
A little while later, Dad called me back.
“Dad, are you OK?”
“Yes, we were just in the movies.”
“Oh, er, so I guess you haven’t heard then…”
It’s funny, you know. These days, there's more information at our fingertips than there ever has been before. But yet important stuff sometimes still slips through the cracks. You think the important news is impossible to miss. But sometimes that information can reach you at the wrong time, in the wrong way. And then you don't realise what you've missed.
It's the same for your customers. For all the Facebook posts you put out. All the flyers, the notice on the door… some people still won’t realise that COVID has affected your business. Maybe your hours have changed. Maybe your business is closed altogether. Or maybe you’ve switched to online only. All things that can affect your customer’s experience. Especially if it’s an inconvenience they were unaware of and weren’t expecting. After all, it's sometimes possible to miss the obvious message.
So what happens when someone calls your business? Do they get an auto-answer message that clearly tells them what's happening? Or are they stuck waiting for an answer that will never come?
Now’s the time to make sure your auto-answer messaging is up to scratch. By having the right information available when customers call, it will save your customers from being stuck waiting for an answer . And as a bonus, save you from endlessly explaining the situation to every customer that rings.
So if your business has changed during COVID lockdown, it’s time for a new auto answer/on hold message! We can provide you with an MP3 to load straight into your phone system with everything your customers need to know. Check out this recent auto answer message we did for South Gippsland Therapy Centre:
Everything a customer needs to know is right in there, along with some extra useful information about the business. We can arrange a voiceover of your choice, along with music, and even help you with what to say and how to say it.
Packages start from under $50, so why not get in touch today?
